Wound Care Registered Nurse

Job Summary

Coordinates treatment to provide comprehensive wound assessments and plan of care including goals, implementation of treatment, evaluation and outcomes for patients throughout the organization. Provides patient, family and staff education regarding wound management, prevention of pressure ulcers, support surfaces, dressing selections and other therapies. Acts as a resource for physicians, wound team and clinical staff. Performs general nursing duties in all departments with adequate supervision and participates in performance improvement activities.

• Perform wound assessment, reassessment and management for all patients per policy, including neonate, pediatric, geriatric and general populations.
• Maintain knowledge of anatomy, physiology and disorders of gastrointestinal, genitourinary, and dermal systems.
• Apply current wound management theory when caring for acute and chronic wounds.
• Develop skin care programs to prevent skin breakdown of patients.

• Graduate of an accredited nursing school;
  Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
• Current state registered nurse licensure.
• Minimum of two (2) years experience in medical/surgical and rehabilitation nursing.
• Certified Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurse (CWOCN) or Certified Wound Care Nurse (CWCN) preferred.
• Current BLS certification.
