As the Nursing Assistant, you are delegated the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties.

Job Functions:

Completes all assigned tasks in a timely manner.

Takes nursing report upon start of duty and tours unit.

Assists residents with personal care needs.

Explains procedures to residents before administering care.

Turns and repositions residents as needed.

Assists residents with bowel and bladder functions and training.

Assists residents in transporting to appointments and activities.

Performs restorative programs upon request.

Accurately measures and records heights and weights.

Accurately measures vital signs and I & O’s.

Empties urinary drainage bags and records amount in record; reports any irregularities to nurse.

Ensures call lights are within reach of residents and answers call lights promptly.

Ensures that residents who are unable to call for help are checked frequently.

Reports all changes in residents’ conditions to supervisor as soon as practical.

Maintains cleanliness of assigned units.

Stores and labels resident personal items per policy.

Maintains resident privacy and dignity while performing job duties.

Provides meal assistance based on individualized residents’ needs.

Keeps resident water pitchers clean and filled with fresh water and within reach of resident.

Delivers on time, and documents, residents’ snacks and supplements.

While performing the duties of the job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles.

The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.

The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

Successful completion of State Approved Nurse Assistant Training and Competency Evaluation Program;
Name must appear on State Registry as Certified Nursing Assistant in good standing.

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

Ability to write simple correspondence.
