Job Overview
Quality Control Inspector I ensures that incoming parts, in-process production, and final products meet all specified quality standards. This role involves visually inspecting materials, parts, and products at various stages of the production process, recording observations, and recommending process improvements. The inspector evaluates structural flaws, internal defects, and missing welds, and decides whether to accept, reject, or request rework for defective units.
Responsibilities- Perform visual inspections on incoming parts, in-process production, and final products to ensure they meet quality standards.
- Record and document inspection results, observations, and recommendations for process improvements.
- Inspect for structural flaws, internal defects, and missing welds in materials, parts, and products.
- Accept, reject, or request rework for defective or malfunctioning units.
- Maintain and update quality standards for receiving, in-process, and final inspection.
- Collaborate with production staff to ensure adherence to quality standards.
- Utilize various inspection tools and equipment to verify product specifications.
- Assist in the calibration and maintenance of inspection equipment.
- Participate in team meetings to discuss quality issues and improvement strategies.
Must Have:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 0–1 year experience as a Quality Assurance Inspector I in a manufacturing quality environment.
- At least 1 year of mechanical inspection experience, with proficiency in using basic hand measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and thread gauges.
- As required by the site, knowledge of and ability to use a wide range of higher‑precision measuring instruments or non‑destructive evaluation equipment.
- Self‑starter with the ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
- Strong teamwork, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
Prefer:
- Familiarity with IPC 610, IPC 620, and J‑Std‑001 standards.
- Demonstrated ability to understand and interpret technical schematics and drawings.
- Proficient in interpreting geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
- Experience with receiving and finished goods inspection processes.
- Hands‑on experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems.
- Basic understanding of material flow within Operations.
- Proven experience drafting work instructions and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Working knowledge of ISO 9000 and AS 9100 quality management standards.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance, if required.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs regularly.
- Standing for extended periods during inspections.
- Dexterity to handle small parts and use inspection tools.
- Ability to work in a noisy environment.
- Occasional travel may be required.
This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance. U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance for employment. Non‑U.S. citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance. The Department of Defense Consolidated Adjudications Facility (DoDCAF), a federal government agency, handles the adjudicative aspects of the security clearance eligibility.
