• Any retail experience.
• Any bakery/cake decorating experience.
• Ability to handle stressful situations.
• Knowledge of basic math.
• Effective communication skills.

• Second language: speaking, reading and/or writing.
• Ability to create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important and appreciated by answering questions about products sold within the department and throughout the store.
• Knowledge of department products to respond to customer inquiries and make recommendations.
• Ability to offer product samples and prepare bakery items, including wedding cakes, per customer requests using proper equipment.
• Recommend bakery items to meet customer needs.
• Check product quality, review sell‑by dates and take appropriate action; use all equipment in the bakery according to company guidelines.
• Decorate cakes, pastries, cupcakes, cookies and other bakery items.
• Label, stock, sign and inventory department merchandise.
• Report product ordering and shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Understand store layout and locate products when requested, staying current with present, future, seasonal and special ads.
• Maintain awareness of inventory and stocking conditions, noting any discrepancies.
• Adhere to all local, state and federal health and civil code regulations.
• Ensure all merchandising, customer service, labor control, expense and supply controls, loss prevention, maintenance, safety, food safety, associate and customer engagement rules are followed.
• Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identifying unsafe conditions and notifying store management.
• Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying appropriate departmental or store manager of repairs needed.
• Report all safety risks, illegal activity, or customer/employee accidents to management.
• Must be able to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
