Position Overview
The Pipefitter – Journeyman performs skilled work in the layout, fabrication, assembly, installation, and maintenance of piping systems for industrial and commercial projects. This role requires a deep understanding of piping materials, systems, and codes, as well as a strong focus on safety and quality.
Key Responsibilities- Pipe Fabrication & Installation:
Lay out, cut, thread, weld, and assemble pipes and supports per blueprints and specifications. - System Testing:
Conduct hydrostatic and pneumatic testing of piping systems to ensure integrity and compliance. - Blueprint Interpretation:
Read and interpret drawings, schematics, and isometric diagrams. - Problem‑Solving:
Troubleshoot system issues and make necessary repairs or modifications. - Safety Compliance:
Ensure all work is performed in accordance with OSHA and company safety standards. - Collaboration:
Coordinate with other trades and mentor apprentices to maintain workflow efficiency.
- Minimum of four (4) years of verifiable pipe fitting experience in industrial or commercial settings.
- Proficiency in blueprint reading, layout, and measurement.
- Knowledge of ASME, ANSI, and OSHA standards.
- Ability to use pipe threading, cutting, and welding equipment safely and accurately.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Certification in pipe welding or related mechanical trades.
- OSHA 30‑Hour Safety Certification.
- Experience in refinery, manufacturing, or process plant environments.
- Work performed on active construction or industrial sites, often outdoors or in confined spaces; may involve exposure to high temperatures, noise, and heavy equipment.
Reports to the Pipefitter – Foreman or Project Superintendent. May mentor apprentices or assist with crew supervision.
