Summary: The Assistant Roofer II performs routine roofing tasks with limited supervision and demonstrates foundational knowledge of commercial roofing systems. This role builds technical skills and prepares the employee for journeyman-level responsibilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities. Other responsibilities may be assigned.
- Perform basic installation tasks (fastening, insulation placement, membrane handling, basic trims, coping cap, reglet, counter flashing)
- Use hand and power tools safely and effectively
- Assist with material layout and staging
- Identify common tools, materials, and roofing components
- Actively participate in safety meetings and hazard recognition
- Support quality control by following installation standards
- Exercise stop-work authority to prevent serious safety violations and protect employees, property, and the worksite
- Handle equipment, tools, and materials responsibly, following proper care and safety procedures
- Maintain compliance with company policies, safety standards, and jobsite housekeeping practices
Education and/or
Experience:
6–18 months of commercial roofing experience (or equivalent training). OSHA 10-Hour certification preferred.
- Lift, move, and/or carry up to 50 pounds.
- Regularly work at heights greater than 15 feet.
