The Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining vehicles, equipment, and machinery to ensure safe and reliable operation. This position performs preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs while adhering to company safety standards and manufacturer specifications.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe following duties are representative of the role and are not all-inclusive:
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues.
- Repair and replace defective parts, components, and systems.
- Conduct engine, transmission, brake, steering, suspension, and drivetrain repairs.
- Maintain accurate service and repair records.
- Operate diagnostic tools and equipment.
- Test equipment after repairs to verify proper operation.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Respond to emergency repair requests as needed.
- Communicate repair needs and recommendations to supervisors
This is a highly physical position. The employee must be able to perform the following on a consistent basis throughout the shift:
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds with assistance.
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, crouch, and work in confined spaces for extended periods.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to use tools and equipment safely and effectively.
Required:
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver's license.
- Mechanical repair experience or vocational training.
- Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical systems.
- Knowledge of hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
- ASE certification or equivalent technical certification. (preferred)
- Experience with diesel engines, heavy equipment, fleet vehicles, or specialized machinery (as applicable).
- Shop, garage, field, or fleet maintenance environment.
- Exposure to grease, oils, fuels, cleaning chemicals, noise, and moving machinery.
- May require overtime, weekends, or on-call work.
