Shop Supervisor

Job Purpose

The purpose of the Shop Supervisor position is to utilize the mechanical expertise of the candidate to support the needs of the branch in a professional, safe and timely manner. The incumbent is a master technician who manages the training, development, and performance of heavy equipment mechanics, yard workers, and utility workers, and ensures high‑quality service calls. They act as a professional representative of Herc Rentals within the branch.

• Develop consistent and regular schedules for all mechanics and yard technicians to perform maintenance on heavy equipment and construction machinery.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot fuel, electrical, hydraulic, and propane systems.
• Operate equipment such as boom lifts, forklifts, compressors, generators, hydraulics, pumps, and assorted tools.
• Communicate effectively and professionally with customers.
• Audit and satisfy required documentation, timesheets, checklists, receiving records, repair orders, and maintenance logs in a timely manner.
• Manage and order parts for the equipment.
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
• Assist mechanics with additional duties.
• Keep general service and maintenance records.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

• High school diploma or GED.
• A valid driver’s license.
• Own a general mechanic’s tool set capable of supporting a heavy equipment fleet and be willing to expand personal tool collection.

• Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to operate large, heavy machinery.
• Ability to read and comprehend operating procedures, owner’s manuals, and product warning labels.
• Customer service skills.
• Solid written and verbal communication skills and basic computer operation.
• Time‑management and adherence to operating procedures, manuals, and warning labels.

$75,000 to $85,000 annual salary + company vehicle.
