Summary:

The Temporary Foreman Roofer is assigned full foreman-level responsibility for the duration of a specific project, shift, or temporary assignment. This role is responsible for leading roofing crews in the safe, efficient, and high-quality installation of commercial roofing systems. This role owns day-to-day job site execution, crew supervision, productivity, and quality, while serving as the primary link between the field crew and project management.

The Temporary Foreman serves as a foreman in training or a short-term coverage resource and is expected to perform all essential duties of a Foreman Roofer during the assignment period. Assignment to this role does not guarantee permanent placement as a Foreman.

• Lead, direct, and motivate roofing crews to meet daily and weekly production, quality, and safety goals
• Assign work tasks based on crew skill levels, job requirements, and project priorities
• Train, coach, and mentor assistant and journeyman roofers; address performance or behavioral issues and elevate as appropriate

• Lead installation of complex roofing systems and details in accordance with plans, specifications, and manufacturer requirements
• Read and interpret drawings, specifications, and details to plan and sequence work activities
• Troubleshoot field conditions, resolve technical challenges, and develop practical solutions to maintain productivity
• Coordinate labor, materials, tools, equipment, and workflow to minimize downtime, rework, and material waste
• Track job progress against schedule and communicate needs, delays, or changes to the Project Manager or Superintendent
• Handle equipment, tools, and materials responsibly, following proper care and safety procedures
• Maintain compliance with company policies, safety standards, and jobsite housekeeping practices

• Perform ongoing quality checks to ensure work meets company standards, manufacturer specifications, and inspection requirements
• Support inspections, punch lists, and closeout activities

• Lead daily Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and toolbox talks
• Enforce PPE, fall protection, and safety requirements
• Report incidents, near misses, and safety concerns promptly
• Exercise stop-work authority to prevent serious safety violations and protect employees, property, and the worksite
• Ensure compliance with timekeeping, breaks and meal periods, and overtime requirements

• Maintain daily job reports and production notes
• Communicate clearly and professionally with crew members, project teams, customers, and other trades
• Participate in project meetings as needed

Education and/or

Experience:

4+ years of commercial roofing experience. Prior experience as Journeyman Roofer II or equivalent. OSHA 10-Hour & OSHA 30-Hour certification(s) preferred.
