Lead Driver

The Lead Driver is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the driving team, ensuring timely and safe transportation of materials and personnel. This role requires strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and compliance. The position also requires a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and proficiency in operating towing equipment.

Essential Job Functions may include the following or other duties as assigned:

Operations:

  • Coordinate and manage the daily schedules of drivers.
  • Ensure all deliveries and pickups are completed on time.
  • Monitor and report on the performance of the driving team.

Equipment and Maintenance:

  • Conduct regular inspections of vehicles to ensure they are in good working condition.
  • Schedule and oversee routine maintenance and repairs.
  • Maintain accurate records of vehicle maintenance and repairs.
  • Operate and oversee the use of towing equipment as needed.

Quality Control:

  • Ensure all transported materials meet company quality standards.
  • Address and resolve any issues related to transportation quality.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate logs of driving activities, including mileage, fuel usage, and delivery times.
  • Prepare and submit regular reports on driving operations.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Ensure all drivers adhere to company safety policies and procedures.
  • Conduct regular safety training sessions for the driving team.
  • Stay updated on and comply with all relevant transportation regulations.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a clean driving record.
  • Knowledge and experience with towing equipment and procedures.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Proven 10 years experience as a driver, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle maintenance and safety regulations.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to lift and carry heavy loads.
  • Prolonged periods of driving and sitting.
