The Warehouse Associate is responsible for operating a forklift and other material handling equipment for shipping, receiving, and picking activities. This includes loading/unloading, scanning, moving, staging, replenishing, stacking, inspecting, and counting product. Associates ensure the safe and efficient operation of equipment and adhere to company policies.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities- Shipping Responsibilities: Use a gasoline or electric forklift to load outbound shipments, move product, and stack products or materials accurately according to SOPs.
- Receiving Responsibilities: Use a forklift to unload inbound shipments, move product, replenish, stack, and store products in correct locations per SOPs.
- Picking Responsibilities: Use a forklift to accurately pick orders, stage them, package, band, shrink wrap, and label products as required by client specifications.
- Quality Control Responsibilities: Verify received and shipped products meet quality standards, report damages or discrepancies, and perform necessary packaging steps.
- Safety, Housekeeping, and Compliance: Follow all safety protocols, maintain cleanliness, assist in warehouse security, and comply with SOPs, corporate policies, safety rules, and OSHA/MSDS standards.
- Equipment Operation: Operate various equipment types (sit‑down/stand‑up reach truck, sweeper/scrubber, scissor lift, cherry picker, Aisle Master, pallet jack), maintain equipment, perform daily inspections, conduct minor maintenance, and uphold an active forklift certification.
- Maintenance: Assist in building, grounds, and equipment maintenance as assigned.
- Other Duties: Perform additional duties as assigned and work overtime per business needs.
- Supervisory Responsibilities: None.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least 6 months of experience in a logistics/distribution or related environment.
- Ability to operate MHE (material handling equipment).
- Completion of a forklift training program.
- Basic computer skills, familiarity with RF scanners, and WMS functions.
- English language proficiency (reading, writing, speaking).
- Basic to intermediate mathematical skills for inventory verification.
- Strong attention to detail, ability to work with minimal supervision, adaptability to fast‑paced environments.
- Physical ability to lift 21–50 pounds, bend, walk, stand, and handle/fingering tasks.
- 1–3 years of experience in a warehouse or logistics environment.
- 1–3 years of forklift operation experience.
- Current or prior MHE certification.
