Overview
Material Handlers are responsible for efficiently and accurately receiving product and shipping orders, ensuring they are processed, put away, picked, and shipped in a timely and secure manner. This role uses internal warehouse systems and various warehouse equipment, which may include powered industrial trucks. The position requires a fast pace, attention to detail, a good attitude, adaptability to change, and physical activity including bending, lifting, pushing, and pulling.
Cross-training opportunities may be required. On-site training and mentoring are provided.
- Order Picker – drive an order picker to assigned bins, identify proper items and quantities for all orders; walk to assigned bins to identify items; ensure orders are picked accurately and promptly with attention to detail; use a scanner to verify products and load onto a conveyor belt.
- Order Prepper – identify correct pallet size and downsize packaging to minimize shipping costs without sacrificing product quality; prepare pallets for shipment by ensuring proper stacking, wrapping, and protection in transit; operate wrap machines and adjust settings; label orders with appropriate stickers.
- Container Unloader – unload containers promptly; confirm item numbers and quantities with high detail; receive and stock inventory to fulfill orders with speed and accuracy.
- Truck Loader – identify carrier based on label; move palletized product to load onto designated trucks; stack packages into trailers in an interlocking pattern; manage trailer access as needed.
- All Positions – operate warehouse equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks, scanners, computers) following safety protocols; meet performance standards for efficiency, accuracy, and quality; maintain a clean, safe work environment; collaborate with team and leadership to meet daily, weekly, and monthly goals; adhere to company and warehouse policies; flex into other positions as needed to support operations.
Starting wage is $24.00/hr, with potential raises up to $0.88 every 6 months.
Physical Requirements- Stand and/or walk for extended periods (up to 12 hours/day).
- Effective communication using speech, vision, and hearing.
- Regular use of hands for grasping and manipulation.
- Regular bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, and reaching.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 75 lbs.
- 1 year of relevant experience in a distribution environment; receiving and/or inventory experience preferred but not required.
This role does not require a degree. Relevant skills and experience and alignment with core values are valued.
