Medstar Ambulance
, a family owned service, servicing Randolph, St. Clair, and Clinton counties in Illinois, is looking for Emergency Vehicle Technicians to ensure we maintain superior fleet management. Medstar Ambulance has been in operation since 1981 and has a proven track record for excellence in the field of emergency response. EVT (Mechanic) position open in Belleville, IL. Corporate Office:
Sparta, IL; 2 Mechanic Shop locations in Sparta, IL & Belleville, IL.
- Diagnosis and repair vehicles' mechanical problems as they occur.
- Document all vehicle repairs - maintain computerized and written records.
- Maintain parts inventory.
- Ability to use all types of hand tools and related power equipment associated with automotive/vehicular maintenance and repair.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Prioritize all vehicle repairs based on operational needs and length of repair time needed.
- Perform technician on-call duties as assigned by service manager.
- Perform preventative maintenance on vehicles as directed according to maintenance schedule.
- Be able to work in weather common with our area using the mobile repair and field service unit.
- Read and interpret vehicle wiring diagrams, instructions and manuals.
- Ensure parts and components are assembled per instructions for proper appearance and function.
- Follow and/or set work priorities to meet production goals as scheduled.
- Follow spill response procedures and evacuation routes.
- Ability to establish and maintain successful working relationships with co-workers and employees in various departments.
- Function with minimal supervision.
- Be able to provide personal tools for diagnosis and vehicle repairs.
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
- Highest preference given to ASE Certifications up to and including Master Mechanic
- Vocational School a plus
- EVT, AWS and/or I-CAR certifications a plus
- Valid driver's license
- One year experience automotive, emergency vehicle experience
