• Experience working with students with cognitive and physical impairments preferred
• Ability to physically attend to student needs, including personal care, hygiene, toileting, etc.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds
• Demonstrated physical ability to lift and move students to support student needs including personal care, diapering, transfers to and from wheelchair, tube feeding, medication administration (oral, rectal and through gastric tube), augmentative communication, assistive technology devices and wheelchair mobility;
• Ability to follow, implement and document all aspects of Positive Behavior Intervention Plan
• Ability to be flexible with varying student needs and schedule changes
• Ability to monitor and manage student behavior
• Ability and willingness to perform recess monitoring, bus loading/unloading and lunchroom supervision, as necessary
• Effective communication skills with a variety of staff and students
• Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
• Ability to work with children in a caring, nurturing manner
• Demonstrates flexibility, teamwork and organization
• CPI/Ukeru trained preferred
• High School diploma or equivalent required
• One of the following preferred:
• 60 credit hours of college credit
• Associate's degree
• College Board’s SAT score of at least a 480 on evidence-based reading and writing and a 530 on math
• ETS Parapro Assessment with a passing score of 460
