School Social Worker Long Term Sub
The School Social Worker supports the academic and social-emotional success of students by providing services that strengthen the home-school-community partnership. They assess student needs, provide individual and group services, assist in crisis intervention, and collaborate with staff and families to remove barriers to learning and promote student well-being.
Qualifications/
Description:
- Master's of Social Work degree with School Social Work certification - Michigan School Social Worker certification.
- Support social-emotional-behavioral needs of all students.
- Proactive approach to behavior and mental health needs & wellbeing.
- Support the implementation of social-emotional learning curriculum.
- Maintain a caseload of students with accurate and timely records and documentation following Michigan special education guidelines.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, counselors, and other professionals to coordinate services and support for students.
- Provide direct services to students, including individual and small groups.
- Develop and implement positive behavior support plans (PBSP) and interventions.
- Write, implement and monitor Plans of Care for general education students.
- Bill for mental health services (Medicaid eligible students)
- Participate in threat assessments.
- Contribute as an active member of the child study / student services team, crisis response team, and PBIS School Leadership team in the assigned building.
- Experience supporting programs for students with autism and cognitive impairments is preferred.
- Demonstrate the ability to support inclusion for students with disabilities.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with colleagues, parents, and students.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and district policies, including confidentiality and mandated reporting laws.
- Ukeru and/or CPI training is preferred.
- Other duties as assigned by the Building Principal and/or Director of Student Services.
