Dometic Marine’s facility in Sparta, TN produces roto-molded fuel and ballast tanks and other roto-molded products for industrial applications. The site also manufactures select marine furniture, aluminum tanks, blow-molded portable tanks, and sanitation systems.

We are on a journey of continuous growth – now looking for our next star – a passionate Metrology Engineer
. This position reports to the Production Manager and will work in Sparta, TN.

About the position

As Metrology Engineer of the Sparta team you will be involved in leading plant metrology activity and ensure equipment, gages, fixtures, and test equipment are precise, accurate, and compliant to regulatory standards. The Metrology Engineer will oversee Quality Lab testing and product validation activities by supervising (2) Quality Lab Technicians. The Metrology Engineer will provide support / direction to the QA Lab Technicians with the Sparta “Blue Pack” process along with any Customer specific PPAP requirements related to Marine Steering and Controls, Tanks, and other Industry product.

The Metrology Engineer will be able to support other functional areas, work independently and in a Team, and have great attention to detail in a fast-paced work environment.

Your Main Responsibilities
  • Measurement Programming:
    Program and operate CMM, Creaform 3D Scanner and other Automated Inspection Systems.
  • Calibration and Maintenance:
    Maintain calibration schedule within Gage Tracking Systems (e.g. 1

    Factory, Gage Trak, etc.) and coordinate all Gage, Test Equipment, and Fixture calibrations - internal and external.
  • Data Analysis:
    Setup GR&R and Capability Studies to assist with Gage and Testing qualification, and Process Controls validation.
  • Assist with the Prototype validation process to ensure Product measurement, configuration, and testing conforms to Dometic-Sparta and Customer requirements.
  • Analyze Quality Test Lab results and escalates any unresolved failures to appropriate Team Members.
  • Create Lab Testing, Gage Calibration, Blue Pack / Proto Process, and Metrology SOPs, WIs, Flow Charts and Process Turtles, as required.
  • Maintain cleanliness of Quality Lab.
  • May be required to assist with other duties, as needed.

Skills & Requirements

A suitable background would be a solid experience within manufacturing and quality engineering as well as the following qualifications and experiences:

  • Experience:

    5 years experience as a Quality Engineer, Quality Lab Manager, or CMM Programmer
  • Programming: CMM (PC-DMIS, CMM-MGR) and Creaform 3D Scanner, Romer / FARO Arm (Poly Works).
  • Compliance Knowledge: ISO 17025, ISO 9001, IATF 16949, AS9100
  • Understands GD&T and able to assist Quality Team Members with Inspection and Testing of Product to Part Number, Blueprint, Standards, SOPs and WIs.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Ability to use measurement and test equipment (e.g., Variable / Attribute Gages, CMM, Optical Comparator, Burst / VPT, Tank Pressure testing, Gel, Impact, etc.).
  • Familiar with Quality / Operations systems (e.g., 1

    Factory, MAPICS, INFOR, Smart System, etc.).
  • ASQ CCT, CQI, or Six Sigma Greenbelt.
