Engineer

Position Overview

As a Test Engineer at Dometic Marine, you will be involved in testing and validating mechanical and electronic products to ensure they meet performance and application requirements. Your role will involve developing test plans, conducting in‑house and external testing, analyzing results, and supporting product development. You will partner with engineering, quality, and manufacturing teams to resolve issues, maintain test equipment and documentation, and ensure a safe, well‑managed lab environment.

Responsibilities
  • Work with engineering to develop and execute test plans that evaluate product suitability to application, and summarize and report data.
  • Design, construct, or purchase test platforms to evaluate product and component performance against specification requirements.
  • Test products to mechanical and electrical limits, and resistance to environmental and chemical exposures.
  • Coordinate and negotiate external testing as appropriate; confer with vendors on management and supervision of outside testing, and review documentation.
  • Perform frequent in‑house lab and infrequent field testing of mechanical and electronic products, including all Sea Star Solutions Mechanical product lines.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering and quality teams to ensure product suitability to application is met through front‑end evaluation of new and improved products.
  • Provide support to Product Management with assistance in product development and the Product Extension processes.
  • Recommend purchase of testing equipment, tools, and consumables.
  • Prepare, maintain, process, and approve technical documentation on test procedures.
  • Perform annual standard product testing, reporting, and analysis.
  • Support manufacturing and manufacturing engineering with production issues.
  • Work with maintenance to ensure proper operation of test equipment.
  • Work with quality department to maintain certification of test equipment.
  • Maintain stock of expendable materials and tooling in the lab.
  • Maintain a safe and clean environment.
Qualifications
  • BS degree in a technical field.
  • Solid experience in test and validation performance.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • GD&T experience or understanding.
  • Proficiency in Solid Works or similar CAD software.
  • Strong proficiency with MS Office programs including Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and PowerPoint, and the ability to learn other applications quickly.
  • Familiarity with electronic instrumentation, sensors, and test equipment.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations (CSA, CE, and other regulatory requirements).
  • Application of industry standards such as SAE, ASTM, ISO, and familiarity with ISO 9001 requirements.
  • Familiarity with QFD, Design and Process FMEAs.
  • Experience with mechanical design, verification, validation, launch, and support of products and components.
  • Prepared mechanical design and test requirements documentation, test reports, and reports for customers on design and test results.
  • Self‑starter and “can do” attitude.
