A. This position reports to Production Supervisor and will work in Sparta, TN.
As the Steering and Controls Flexatrol Hose & Tube Team Lead A of the Sparta team, you will provide shop floor leadership and direction for the startup and daily operation of all assigned machines and work stations in the Steering and Controls Flexatrol Hose & Tube Department. You will demonstrate the ability to support the Manufacturing Shift Supervisor, work independently with judgment and work well under pressure in a fast-paced work environment.
Lead employees effectively; effectively train others and identify problems, assess manufacturing needs, problem solve and implement solutions in an effective and timely manner. You will be responsible for the daily supervision of all assigned areas including employees, production schedules, production supplies, cost controls and safety.
Your main responsibilities include:
- Maintain a safe work environment for all employees and have zero accidents.
- Lead/assist in set-up of machines.
- Operates machines under general supervision.
- Performs adjustments to the machines.
- Performs routine daily checks.
- May assist supervisor and/or maintenance mechanic in more complex machine maintenance.
- Oversee daily operations of all assigned assembly lines and work stations.
- Influence product design to assure good manufacturing efficiencies and control scrap.
- Ensure operating and quality standards are met for all product produced in assigned areas.
- Provide safety and operational training to all employees in the department.
- Manage the assembly and finishing of steering and controls parts including employees, materials, scheduling, safety, quality and service/on time delivery.
- Set-up & change over product, adjust, operate all essential manufacturing equipment, including minor maintenance needs to remain operational.
- Maintain and record an accurate account of manning, good parts and scrap parts daily.
- May be assigned to perform other duties as requested.

A suitable background would be a solid experience within Manufacturing and leadership as well as the following qualifications and experiences:
- Understanding of BOM, SOP, and Work Instructions
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Knowledge of and commitment to industrial safety
- Excellent skills and knowledge of machine mechanics and processes, process optimization, quality, inspection
- Excellent attendance.
- Exceptional safety record.
