Job Title:

CMM Specialist

Job Description

The CMM Specialist programs and operates CMM equipment and other metrology tools to inspect molded plastic parts and assembled products, ensuring they meet dimensional and quality requirements. This role supports production, new tooling trials, and engineering changes by providing accurate measurements, detailed reports, and active participation in quality improvement activities.

Responsibilities

+ Program CMM equipment using PC-DMIS software, 3D scanners, and other metrology tools to inspect molded plastic parts and assembled products.

+ Perform dimensional inspections on first shots, production runs, and assembled parts to support PPAP and ongoing quality requirements.

+ Conduct capability studies, including Cpk and Ppk analyses, to evaluate and document process performance.

+ Document and communicate non-conformances clearly and promptly to relevant stakeholders.

+ Assist with root cause analysis for quality issues and support the implementation of corrective and preventive actions.

+ Support new tooling trials and engineering changes by providing accurate dimensional feedback and detailed measurement reports.

+ Apply GD&T principles during inspection and reporting to ensure compliance with design and engineering specifications.

+ Contribute to APQP, PPAP, and FMEA activities by supplying accurate measurement data and quality insights.

Essential Skills

+ Proficiency in CMM programming, including hands-on experience programming and operating CMM equipment.

+ Working knowledge of PC-DMIS CMM software for measurement programming and reporting.

+ Strong understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and its application in dimensional inspection.

+ Experience conducting dimensional inspections on molded plastic parts and assembled products.

+ Ability to perform and interpret capability studies such as Cpk and Ppk.

+ Familiarity with core quality tools and methodologies, including APQP, PPAP, and FMEA.

+ Ability to document non-conformances clearly and support root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions.

+ Attention to detail and accuracy in measurements, documentation, and reporting.

Skills & Qualifications

+ Ability to program and operate 3D printers, including Keyence equipment.

+ Experience using 3D scanners and other advanced metrology tools for dimensional inspection.

+ Comfort working with molded plastic components and assembly processes.

+ Strong problem-solving skills and a continuous improvement mindset.

+ Effective communication skills to collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams.

+ Organizational skills to manage multiple inspections, reports, and quality tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Work Environment

This is an onsite position working on 2nd or 3rd shift in a production and quality-focused environment. You will work closely with manufacturing, engineering, and quality teams while operating CMM equipment, 3D scanners, and other metrology tools, as well as programming 3D printers such as Keyence systems. The role involves hands-on work in a plant setting, supporting active production runs, new tooling trials, and engineering changes.

Holiday and vacation time are billable, providing additional flexibility and value for time away from work.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Sparta, TN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $30.00/hr.
