Shipping Coordinator

About the position

As Shipping Coordinator of the Sparta team, you will be involved in shipping and warehouse operations, including operating forklifts, preparing shipping documents, coordinating with carriers, and ensuring accurate order fulfillment. It also includes receiving and organizing inventory, generating pick lists, directing material handlers, resolving inventory discrepancies, and maintaining a safe, clean workspace. The position requires teamwork, communication with customer service, and flexibility to work overtime as needed

• Operate sit down and stand up forklift
• Create packing slips, bills of lading, figure freight charges, and select common carrier, UPS, Fed Ex, LTLs etc. on computer
• Communicate with LTL carriers, making selection of carrier and communicating with carrier for timely pickups
• Process and post shipments per shipping procedures
• Load shipments onto trucks, via forklift, and ensure that all items match the customer’s order
• Assist with pulling parts for job orders as instructed daily
• Work as a team to receive incoming deliveries, validate to packing slip and put away
• Maintain organized, clean and safe work area
• Produces pull orders and tracks completion.
• Generates, prioritizes, and distributes pick lists from computer.
• Directing material handlers and shippers and receiving.
• Ability to detect and correct inventory discrepancies.
• Perform random cycle counts and make any necessary corrections.
• Communicates with customer service on special instructions.
• Classifies freight.
• May be assigned to perform other duties as requested.
• Must be able to work overtime on short notice.

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
• Prior warehouse/logistics experience required 2-4 years
• Ability to lift 50-75 pounds on a regular basis
• Familiar with Bills of Lading, Packing Lists and Purchase Orders to the extent of proper receiving, matching and distribution of material
• Forklift experience required – forklift certification a plus
• Prior Manufacturing experience a plus
• Strong attention to detail with critical thinking
• Team Player
• Use of phones, computer, email and Internet. Microsoft programs experience preferred
• Strong time management and organization skills required
• Thorough understanding of bar-coding systems, Mapics and Microsoft Office programs.
