Summary of Position: Instructors are responsible for providing quality academic curriculum, instruction, assessment, and ensuring a productive and challenging learning experience prepared to prepare students for the workplace or further education. This position promotes social justice within the division and the larger academic institution. Instruction will be primarily in the face-to-face format.
Essential Functions- Deliver courses in multiple modes of delivery including modern classroom (F2F), online or hybrid/blended, and on-site training for external customers where applicable
- Develop and deliver instructional design activities
- Address and refer student concerns
- Guide and support students on a one-to-one basis outside the classroom as well as in the classroom setting
- Assist students in developing critical thinking skills to understand/apply concepts of subject matter to vocational, ethical, social, and personal practices
- Monitor student progress and conduct student evaluation
- Provide input and/or maintain division accreditation and student records
- Integrate the college Success Abilities as well as the program outcomes and course competencies
- Responsible for instructional learning activities
- Provide academic referrals as appropriate
- Organize, develop, and deliver outcomes-based curriculum and assess student learning
Minimum Education and Occupational Requirements:
- High School Diploma
- Three years (or 6000 hrs) certified occupational experience as a jail officer (certifiability occurs on the date of LESB approval)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate's Degree
- Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice or related law enforcement field, Public Administration, Public Service or Education
- Master's degree
- Teaching experience
- Online teaching experience and/or experience with online learning platforms
Required Certification/Licenses:
- Eligible for/or meets WTCS Faculty Quality Assurance System requirements.
- Individual program certification may be required and must be maintained (e.g., RN, public safety)
This position reports to:

Salary: $36/hour
