Job Description
If you’re interested in a maintenance career, join the Army National Guard as a Utilities Equipment Repairer and help keep operations running smoothly on and off the battlefield.
Your primary responsibility will be to maintain and repair utilities equipment and special‑purpose support systems. You will work on electric motors, electrical equipment, electric instruments, sealed electrical gear, gasoline engine systems, air‑conditioner and portable heater systems, and fire‑extinguisher equipment, among others.

- Inspect, test, and repair electric motors and other electrical equipment.
- Inspect and repair electric instruments, replace worn gaskets, and seal watertight electrical equipment.
- Maintain and repair gasoline engine systems, air‑conditioner electrical systems, and portable heater fuel/electrical systems.
- Inspect and repair air‑conditioner electrical and vapor systems, refrigeration unit electrical systems, and fire‑extinguisher recharging systems.
- Ensure all equipment is safe, functional, and compliant with regulations.
As part of your training, you will complete 10 weeks of Basic Training followed by 13 weeks of Advanced Individual Training. The program covers both classroom instruction and field practice.
You will learn skills applicable to a civilian career and will receive a regular paycheck during training.
