Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities- You will conduct routine and complex investigations of reported violations of the South Carolina Statute of Wage Payments and Child Labor Laws.
- You will serve records requests, issue subpoenas, interview witnesses, gather documentation and interview witnesses, prepare case summary reports, and maintain files and documentation in applicable databases and systems.
- You will recommend written warnings and recommend action for the issuance of citations to employers for violations.
- You will provide technical and educational assistance to employers on applicable wage and child labor laws and regulations.
- You will conduct field investigations for the Office of Immigration Compliance, including audit follow-ups.
- You will complete other duties such as serving as a witness at administrative hearings, attend trainings, and additional work and projects on behalf of the Division and Office.
Minimum Qualifications
- A high school diploma and experience conducting investigations or performing other law enforcement duties. (A bachelor’s degree may be substituted for the required work experience.)
- Familiarity with general Human Resources and office management functions including basic payroll, bookkeeping, auditing, and/or general accounting principles.
- Considerable knowledge of investigative techniques, principles and practices.
- Considerable knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations.
- Considerable knowledge of acceptable legal principles and practices.
- Ability to establish good relationships with officials, the public, and co-workers.
- Proficient computer and word processing skills.
- Strong writing skills, including grammar.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- Must have a valid driver's license and 10-year MVR that complies with State and Agency Fleet guidelines.
- Must be able to drive a state or personal vehicle to complete assigned job duties.
- Frequent in-state and daily travel.
- Occasional overnight state travel.
- May require extended periods of driving, sitting, and visiting facilities that are non-ADA compliant.
- May need to bend, stoop, kneel and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Occasional work outside of normal Agency business hours.
