Palmetto Rock Services, Inc. is a specialty contractor providing drilling, blasting, and mechanical services throughout the Southeast. Since our founding in 1992 in Spartanburg, SC, we’ve built a reputation for precision, quality, and reliability in rock drilling and blasting.

This internship offers hands‑on exposure to the operations of a drilling & blasting contractor. You’ll work alongside seasoned professionals, gaining real‑world experience in project planning, field operations, safety protocols, mechanical support, or administrative support, depending on your area of interest.

You will:

• Assist in site layout, surveying, and preparation
• Help with data collection, logging borehole metrics, and reporting
• Support safety inspections, risk assessments, and compliance
• Aid in maintenance, mechanical, or equipment support tasks
• Contribute to project documentation, cost tracking, and reporting
• Participate in team meetings, project planning, and site coordination

We don’t expect you to know everything — but we do expect:

• Pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering, Mining Engineering, Geology, Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
• Strong interest in construction, drilling, or blasting operations
• Basic understanding of engineering or geological principles (preferred)
• Familiarity with surveying tools, CAD software, or GIS (a plus)
• Strong attention to detail, analytical mindset, and problem‑solving skills
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Self‑motivated, able to work under supervision and in field conditions
• Ability to travel to project sites and work outdoors (weather, rough terrain)
• Commitment to safety and following protocols
