Position PurposeThe Numeracy Coach will empower teachers by working directly with all stakeholders to bring about improvements in the classroom/school that will positively impact student achievement. The work of the numeracy coach will be based on scientifically based research and content knowledge.
Essential Functions- Assist teachers in analyzing data to provide differentiation, track trends, support instructional decisions, and plan lessons.
- Work with teachers to create and interpret formative and summative assessments.
- Plan collaboratively with teachers to ensure that everyday mathematics/SC mathematics standards are taught with fidelity, paced appropriately, teachers are familiar with the SC standards and support documents, differentiation is occurring in the classroom, and teachers’ awareness of instructional resources and how to use them effectively is increased.
- Provide professional development for teachers on research-based instructional strategies, content and pedagogy; plan opportunities for horizontal and vertical articulation; provide training on district programs such as Gizmos, Everyday Mathematics, curriculum mapping, Number Worlds, graphing calculators.
- Co‑teach/model lessons with/for teachers.
- Serve as a liaison between school and district; collaborate with coaches from other schools.
- Observe teachers in a coaching capacity to provide feedback and support instruction.
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal, Chief Instructional Services Officer, Superintendent, or other district office administrator as designated by the Superintendent.
Qualifications- Must have a valid South Carolina teaching license or be able to obtain one within 60 days of hire.
- Must be highly qualified in the content area or become highly qualified within 60 days of hire.
Three to five years experience as a Math/Science teacher or elementary grade level preferred.

- Have regular and punctual attendance.
- Follow all district policies, work procedures, and reasonable requests by the proper authorities.
