Sr Advanced Process Engineer

Position Summary

The Senior Advanced Process Engineer (Extrusion) is responsible for providing technical leadership and support to Cooper Standard manufacturing facilities in all aspects of extrusion processing and technology. This role drives the standardization and continuous improvement of extrusion processes across product lines, focusing on production performance, process capability, quality, energy efficiency, and cost optimization.

• Work closely with manufacturing facilities to reduce cost, improve quality, and achieve advancements in process and product technology.
• Lead research and implementation of new or improved equipment, tooling, or processes to satisfy changing production requirements.
• Collaborate with outside machinery suppliers, machine shops, plant engineering, and maintenance.
• Assist in validation of new processes as necessary.
• Obtain and negotiate approval or revisions to customer product specifications when required.
• Initiate projects and tasks through creative insight, leveraging manufacturing and product knowledge.
• Confirm feasibility/capability of proposed product/process improvements using statistical methods.
• Assist in the transfer of product and process between manufacturing facilities.
• Serve as communicative link between Cooper Standard technical and manufacturing sites, including other global regions, for process development, best‑practice exchange, and standardization.
• Keep current on developments related to manufacturing and product technology through meetings with suppliers, customers, and trade publications.

• Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• Typically has three or more years of experience.
• Ability to solve problems and apply new perspectives using existing solutions.
• Independent work style and resourcefulness for colleagues.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate complex concepts.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Demonstrated proactive task approach.
• Willingness and ability to travel, as necessary.

• Professional office environment.
• Must wear proper personal protection equipment while on the manufacturing floor.
• Frequent domestic and international travel required.
• Equipment use requires proper training on injury prevention.
