Job Description & How to Apply Below

As a Senior Electrical Building Engineer at JLL, you will serve as a critical technical leader responsible for the advanced electrical systems that power today's most demanding data center and critical facility environments. In this role, you'll take ownership of complex high-voltage electrical infrastructure, lead sophisticated troubleshooting initiatives, and provide technical mentorship to engineering teams.

At JLL, we are collectively shaping a brighter way — for our clients, ourselves and our fellow employees, and your expertise will be essential in ensuring the reliability and performance of mission-critical electrical systems. You'll work with cutting-edge technology including medium voltage switch gear, advanced power distribution systems, and emergency backup infrastructure while serving as the go-to expert for the most challenging electrical engineering problems.

This position combines hands‑on technical work with leadership responsibilities, allowing you to drive both immediate operational excellence and long-term strategic improvements across our electrical infrastructure portfolio.

What your day-to-day will look like:
  • Lead maintenance and operations of complex electrical infrastructure including medium voltage switch gear, primary electrical distribution, transformers up to 15kV, and paralleling switch gear systems
  • Perform advanced diagnostics and root cause analysis on UPS systems, automatic transfer switches, static transfer switches, and power distribution units to ensure maximum uptime
  • Execute sophisticated electrical testing procedures including relay testing, power quality analysis, and comprehensive arc flash studies
  • Serve as the escalation point for Level 1 and Level 2 electrical issues requiring advanced technical expertise and critical thinking
  • Lead emergency response procedures for critical electrical system failures, coordinating cross-functional teams to restore operations quickly

Analyze power system performance data and implement optimization strategies that enhance efficiency and reliability
  • Ensure strict compliance with NFPA 70E electrical safety standards and maintain company arc flash protocols across all operations
  • Provide technical oversight and management of electrical contractor work, ensuring quality standards and safety requirements are met
  • Conduct electrical safety training sessions for junior staff and contractors, fostering a culture of safety excellence
Required qualifications:
  • Minimum 5 years of hands‑on experience in data center or critical facility electrical systems operations
  • Advanced technical knowledge of electrical power systems including medium voltage distribution, transformers, and protective relaying systems
  • Demonstrated expertise with large‑scale UPS systems (500kW+), emergency generators, and electrical switch gear operations
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities for diagnosing and resolving complex electrical infrastructure issues
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for creating technical documentation and delivering training programs
  • Physical ability to perform demanding work including walking, climbing, lifting 50+ pounds, and working on ladders up to 30 feet
  • Availability for emergency response calls and ability to work in high‑pressure situations
  • NFPA 70E certification required within 90 days of employment
Preferred qualifications:
  • Universal EPA 608 certification demonstrating environmental compliance expertise
  • Current electrical license or equivalent technical certification from recognized industry body
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical education and training
  • Hands‑on experience with advanced power monitoring systems and energy management platforms
  • Proficiency with Corrigo CMMS or similar computerized maintenance management systems
  • Previous experience in technical leadership roles with responsibility for mentoring junior engineering staff
