Position OverviewAre you an ambitious and driven individual with a foundational understanding of environmental, civil, or geotechnical principles, eager to launch your career in a dynamic consulting environment? We are seeking a Engineering Staff Associate to join our growing team, contributing to diverse projects across environmental, civil, geotechnical, geostructural, and construction material testing disciplines. This role is ideal for individuals looking to develop their skills, gain hands‑on experience, and progress towards professional licensure.
You will be a vital part of our project teams, supporting senior staff and learning the ins and outs of engineering consulting from the ground up.
Our Geotechnical Group focuses on serving projects for our local municipal, industrial, residential, and commercial clients. These projects span a multitude of geotechnical support roles, from exploration to support during construction.
MinimumJob Requirements
- Associate’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Environmental Science, or a closely related field from an ABET‑accredited institution.
- 0–2 years of progressively responsible professional experience in relevant fields.
- Currently in progress towards obtaining Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) or Geologist‑in‑Training (GIT) certification.
- Required to travel regularly to local and regional project sites (typically within South Carolina and surrounding states), potentially including overnight stays and extensive fieldwork under varying environmental conditions, while adhering strictly to health and safety protocols.
- Perform technical analyses, calculations, and design for various engineering projects, including site development, foundation design, retaining walls, earthwork, and pavements.
- Utilize engineering software and tools for design, modeling, and data analysis (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Geo Studio, gINT, Tablogs).
- Perform site investigations, field inspections, and data collection to support project objectives.
- Draft exploration reports for review by senior professionals.
- Develop and apply foundational knowledge in environmental regulations, civil design principles, geotechnical investigations, and construction material testing; assist in data collection, analysis, and basic report preparation under direct supervision.
- Begin to understand the importance of client satisfaction and assist in clear, concise communication with clients regarding project updates and data, under guidance of senior staff.
- Adhere strictly to company and project‑specific quality control procedures; assist in reviewing data and reports for accuracy and completeness.
