Coder II – MUSC Health

The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) is hiring a Coder II to accurately assign codes for inpatient, outpatient, and emergency service diagnoses, procedures, and conditions as indicated in the patient medical record.

• Assign accurate ICD-10 and CPT codes in accordance with official coding guidelines from the American Medical Association, American Hospital Association, and American Health Information Management Association.
• Maintain compliance with the Health Information Management Department and MUSC-approved policies and procedures.
• Review and interpret medical records to accurately code patient encounters.
• Ensure coding accuracy and completeness for all service types, including inpatient, outpatient, and emergency.

• Coding credential from AHIMA and/or AAPC required.
• Knowledge of ICD-10‑CM, ICD-10‑PCS, and CPT coding systems.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to interpret complex medical records.
• Experience with coding standards and quality metrics preferred.

Hourly rate commensurate with experience; annual range $59,300.00–$80,900.00. 40 scheduled hours per week.
