Job Summary:
The Intermediate Business Analyst will support Spartanburg County's Cybersecurity Program and Documentation Recovery initiative by producing, standardizing, and organizing technical documentation. This role involves close collaboration with IT leadership and subject-matter experts to create clear, accurate, and maintainable documentation that enhances operational resilience and knowledge transfer within the County's IT environment.
Responsibilities:- Develop and maintain professional technical documentation using standardized templates and conventions.
- Create SOPs, operational procedures, system and application documentation, runbooks, support and administrative procedures, and knowledge-base articles.
- Maintain incident-response, disaster-recovery, business-continuity, restoration, and recovery documentation in coordination with SMEs and leadership.
- Translate complex technical information and SME interviews into accurate, usable documentation for technical and operational audiences.
- Create and refine diagrams, workflows, process maps, and architecture-supporting visuals using Microsoft Visio.
- Utilize Microsoft 365 tools extensively, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint for collaboration and document management.
- Apply consistent terminology, formatting, versioning, metadata, document ownership, review dates, and change history.
- Collaborate with Business Analysts to convert discovery outputs, requirements, inventories, and process maps into finalized documentation.
- Conduct document reviews with SMEs, reconcile feedback, verify technical accuracy, and prepare documents for approval and publication.
- Help establish reusable templates, style standards, naming conventions, repository structures, and documentation lifecycle practices.
Certifications:
- 5+ years of technical writing experience producing professional documentation for complex IT or technology environments.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft 365 suite, especially Word and SharePoint, plus Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Visio for creating technical diagrams and process visuals.
- Experience producing SOPs, runbooks, system documentation, operational procedures, and knowledge articles.
- Strong editing, information architecture, document organization, formatting, and quality-control skills.
- Ability to work directly with technical SMEs across infrastructure, applications, service delivery, and cybersecurity disciplines.
- Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication, English, Information Technology, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
Certifications:
- Experience documenting cybersecurity, infrastructure, incident response, disaster recovery, business continuity, or IT service-management environments.
- Experience with documentation recovery, knowledge management, or large-scale documentation standardization initiatives.
- Experience designing and administering SharePoint-based documentation libraries, templates, metadata, and lifecycle practices.
- Familiarity with ITIL, NIST, CIS, or other recognized IT/security frameworks.
- Experience in government or other highly regulated environments.
- Certifications such as Certified Professional Technical Communicator (CPTC), ITIL Foundation, or comparable technical-writing/IT certifications.
- Must pass a 7-year nationwide criminal history check, credit history check, E-Verify, 10-panel drug screening, and a 7-year certified driving record check.
- Candidate must sign Temporary Worker, Confidentiality and Ownership, and Resource Employment Validation agreements.
- Candidate must be a South Carolina resident or willing to relocate/commute to South Carolina at own expense.
- Fully onsite work required with occasional light travel to County offices and facilities.
- Full-time position, approximately 40 hours per week.
- 12-month contract with possibility for extension.
- Work location is 100% onsite in Spartanburg County, South Carolina.
