The OpportunityThe Director of Finance serves as a key member of the Leadership Team and acts as the organization’s top operational leader in the absence of the CEO. This role oversees finance, operations, human resources coordination, compliance, and risk management across the organization and related entities.
You will supervise team members, manage the audit and accounting relationships, oversee real‑estate compliance, and ensure strong financial systems and internal controls are in place.
This is a high‑impact leadership position for someone who thrives at the intersection of strategy, systems building, and community development.
What You’ll Lead Finance & Administration- Annual budgeting and financial reporting
- Banking, investments, payroll, and AP/AR oversight
- Audit management and accounting firm coordination
- Grant management and compliance
- Systems creation to ensure strong financial checks and balances
- Oversight of Communications & Marketing function
- Serve on the NDG Leadership Team
- Lead in the absence of the CEO
- Supervise Operations Manager, Contract Bookkeeper, and Interns
- Represent NDG at community and stakeholder events
- Real estate and property ownership review
- Legal document oversight
- Insurance portfolio management (D&O, property, liability)
- Contract worker compliance and tax documentation
- Invoice approval and compliance monitoring
You are a financially sophisticated leader who understands that strong systems create strong communities.
Qualifications- 5–10+ years management‑level finance experience
- 3+ years operations leadership
- 3+ years HR management
- 3–5 years grant management
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Nonprofit Management, or related field
- High cultural competency and ability to engage diverse stakeholders
- Proven financial acumen
- Entrepreneurial systems-builder
- Quick Books Online proficiency
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to manage complex, multi-entity operations
- Conflict resolution and team leadership skills
- Deep alignment with the values of Northside and community-centered development
