Summary
The Quality Floor Inspector is responsible for ensuring that products manufactured on the production floor meet established quality standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements. This role involves conducting in-process and final inspections, identifying defects, documenting findings, and collaborating with production teams to maintain and improve product quality.
Key Responsibilities- Perform inprocess and final inspections of products on the manufacturing floor.
- Verify compliance with company quality standards, engineering drawings, and customer specifications.
- Use measuring tools and inspection equipment (calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.) accurately.
- Document inspection results and maintain detailed quality records.
- Identify nonconforming materials or products and initiate corrective action procedures.
- Communicate quality concerns promptly to supervisors and relevant departments.
- Support root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure adherence to safety policies and quality procedures.
- Assist with audits and compliance activities as needed.
- Monitor production processes to identify trends or recurring issues.
- Approves incoming materials by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; rejecting and returning unacceptable materials.
- Approves inprocess production by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; communicating required adjustments to production supervisor.
- Approves finished products by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; returning products for rework; confirming rework.
- Documents inspection results by completing reports and logs; summarizing rework and waste; inputting data into quality database.
- Keeps measurement equipment operating by following operating instructions; calling for repairs.
- Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
- High school diploma or technical certification preferred.
- 13 years of experience in quality inspection or manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
- Knowledge of quality standards and inspection techniques.
- Proficiency with basic measurement tools and inspection equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and problem solving skills.
- Basic computer skills for documentation and reporting.
- Must pass a background screening
- Must be able to lift 50 to 100 pounds.
