Job Overview
Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) reporting to the Plasma Center Manager, responsible for ensuring donor eligibility and safety, managing adverse events, reviewing laboratory results, and supporting center operations.
Responsibilities- Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education, self‑exclusion, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and review of Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
- Evaluate donor reactions as outlined in SOPs and follow medical emergency protocols.
- Develop and implement Center Physician standing orders and coordinate donor transport to emergency care.
- Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or medical/technical guidance.
- Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees.
- Manage employee incidents, determine further evaluation needs, and follow EHS guidance.
- Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and assist with investigations related to pandemic threats.
- Provide center‑level support for environmental, health, and safety (EHS) and follow guidance from Bio Life Medical Affairs.
- High school diploma or equivalent; or graduate‑level nursing program with state licensing.
- Current state license or certification: EMT‑Paramedic.
- Current CPR and AED certification.
- State‑approved basic IV therapy training.
- Completion of FDA‑approved training requirements for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
- Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.

CompensationU.S. Hourly Wage Range: $22.80 – $31.35. Actual hourly wage will depend on qualifications, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location, and will be in accordance with applicable state or local minimum wage requirements.
