Counter Sales/Backup CDL Driver (Open)

Airgas is hiring for a Counter Sales Associate/Backup CDL Route Driver in Spartanburg, SC. This role involves selling industrial, medical, and specialty gases, welding supplies, and related equipment to customers while providing support through email, telephone, walk‑ins, and as a backup driver when necessary. The position also requires operating safety equipment such as forklifts and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.

• Sell industrial, medical, and specialty gases, welding supplies, and related equipment to customers.
• Assist customers through email, telephone, and walk‑ins.
• Solicit sales from new and existing customers and manage associated paperwork.
• Assist customers with loading/unloading cylinders and provide guidance on equipment use.
• Monitor and maintain proper hardgoods and cylinder levels to minimize emergencies.
• Manage accounts receivable, discuss past‑due accounts, and collect payments.
• Ensure accurate completion of paperwork, including coding, costing, and pricing.
• Act as backup driver when necessary.
• Operate equipment like forklifts as required.

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Class B CDL license.
• Must have HAZMAT endorsement or be able to obtain it within 60 days of hire.
• Successful completion of Airgas Background and Motor Vehicle Check.
• DOT clearinghouse verification from previous employers is required.
• Ability to routinely lift 25–75 lbs. and occasionally lift 76–100+ lbs.
• Willingness to work outdoors in changing temperatures.
• Ability to maintain a drug‑free workplace.
• Adherence to safety regulations and policies.

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Forklift experience.
• Touch freight delivery experience.
