Black Hills State University invites internal applications for a Registration Officer to support accurate student academic records, effective registrar operations, and responsive service to students and the campus community. This position combines technical expertise, analytical judgment, and collaboration to help students navigate registration requirements and progress toward graduation.
The Registration Officer manages registration updates; evaluates and articulates transfer coursework; evaluates and awards credit for prior learning; maintains grades and transcripts; and supports graduation processing. reviewing and correcting records for external enrollment reporting, and calculating student‑athlete academic eligibility. Working closely with students, faculty, academic departments, advising and student‑success staff, Athletics, and system partners, the Registration Officer interprets and applies institutional and South Dakota Board of Regents requirements.
The position resolves academic record and registration issues, safeguards confidential information, maintains accurate public and internal resources, supports and trains office staff, and makes assigned operational decisions in the Registrar's absence.
- Knowledge of: the administrative responsibilities, principles, and practices of the registrar's office;

- Courses and grades required for graduation in specific disciplines;
- Ability to develop and organize accurate record maintenance processes;

- Knowledge of registrar operations, academic records administration, higher education curriculum procedures, and graduation requirements.
- Ability to maintain accurate student records and develop effective processes for managing and updating records systems.

- Clear, concise communication and excellent customer service.
- Initiative, effective self-management, and the ability to prioritize multiple competing responsibilities.
- A commitment to confidentiality, collaborative service, and regular, reliable attendance.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
- Experience using the Ellucian Banner student information system
- Experience interpreting South Dakota Board of Regents Policy and FERPA
- Experience evaluating and applying athletic eligibility requirements

Compensation and BenefitsAdvertised Salary $49,193.28 - $51,000 commensurate with qualifications, plus benefits

Work Hours 8:00am-5:00pm, Monday - Friday (Fall and Spring)
7:30am - 4:30pm, Monday - Friday (Summer)

Additional Requirements- Will work one Saturday morning in December and one Saturday morning in May for commencement.
