This position provides a development opportunity for bankers new to Commercial, Agricultural, and Construction Lending, and offers a role for experienced lenders managing a smaller or less complex loan portfolio.

Primary Duties
  • Accountable for the management of outstanding credit relationships with existing loan customers of the Bank and proactively seek out and establish new borrowing relationships.
  • Identify and align new and existing loan customers with additional Enterprise products and services in accordance with the Loan Policy, procedures and compliance requirements of the Bank.
  • Manage a funded loan portfolio between $5,000,000 and $20,000,000 comprised of less complex credits and Commercial, Agriculture, or Construction loans.
  • Handle all aspects of outstanding Business, Construction, and Agricultural credits for existing loan customers, monitoring customer financial strength and performance through research, analysis and inspection.
  • Gather, prepare and analyse supporting financial and credit documentation required by Bank policy and procedures; ensure timely receipt of financial statements, tax returns and fulfillment of tickler items.
  • Develop and execute required loan and collateral documentation according to loan type and structure; close and document funding instructions for new and renewed loan transactions.
  • Review and decide overdraft payments for existing customers; oversee loan payment performance and collection activities for outstanding credit.
  • Utilise a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tool to retain existing customers, actively prospect and develop new lending relationships, and align borrowers with other Business and Consumer Banking products.
  • Proactively prospect and refer Trust, Brokerage, and Insurance products and services to new and existing Loan customers.
  • Work with support resources including the Credit Analyst Team, Business Banking Assistant and Credit Lending Officer to structure, analyse and document loan packages and credit recommendations.
  • Gather and apply current economic environment information—including farming, ranching, commodity prices and the business community—to the underwriting process.
Secondary Duties
  • Act in a leadership capacity, providing relevant expertise and counsel; actively support work and employee development activities of the Bank.
  • Collaborate as a team with departmental counterparts on planning and implementing assigned projects and products.
  • Participate on various committees and project teams as deemed appropriate by management.
  • Attend and actively participate in organisation‑specific training, job‑specific training and Quality Service programmes.
  • Adhere to all applicable Bank West Policies and Procedures.
  • Community involvement is strongly encouraged.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • A Bachelor's Degree in a related field (applicable experience and/or related certifications may be considered in lieu of a degree).
  • Bank trainee or intern experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a related field.
  • Work experience or family background in Agriculture, Ranching, or Small Business.
Knowledge & Special Skills
  • Excellent credit and financial analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently or dependently, under pressure, meet deadlines and adjust work schedules to complete responsibilities.
  • Ability to organise and handle multiple responsibilities while delivering quality external and internal Customer Service.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to ensure effective communication with external and internal customers.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements pertinent to the performance of specified duties.
  • Knowledge of banking terminology and procedures.
  • Ability to skillfully use a variety of application software, learn computer programmes and comprehend programme output.
  • Adhere to Federal Privacy Standards and follow Bank West requirements for electronic communication and social engineering standards.
  • Participation in increasing Bank West’s presence in markets (all employees are expected to participate directly or indirectly in this activity).
