Department DetailsThis position will be 13 shifts a month 10 a to 10 p. The APP is always on staff with a Physician. We average about 20‑24 patients per 24‑hour period. Aberdeen is a Level IV Verified Trauma Center. There are 7 exam rooms + 2 trauma rooms.
Ancillary Services Include:
Anesthesia;
Inpatient & Outpatient Surgery;
Diagnostic Testing – Echo, Vascular, Stress, US;
Radiology, Lab, Pharmacy, etc.
The Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides service to patients in designated care settings, including acute, short‑ and long‑term care, by assisting physicians, assessing patients, and treating injuries and ailments. The NP obtains a thorough medical history, performs examinations or assessments, analyzes and interprets information to develop diagnoses, coordinates care, formulates treatment plans, prescribes medications as legally authorized, maintains detailed records, makes referrals, and counsels patients and families.
The NP participates in clinical research studies and integrates evidence‑based practice guidelines into care. The role requires varying shifts, on‑call rotations, including nights and weekends as needed.
Completion of a master’s, post‑master’s, or doctorate from an accredited nurse practitioner program (Council of Graduate Schools in Nursing or National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission). Licensing prior to August 1 1995; a master’s degree in nursing is preferred.
Demonstrated current competence and provision of care for an adequate volume of patients in the past twelve months or completion of a master’s/post‑master’s program within the past twelve months. Experience must correlate to the privileges requested.
Current licensure by the applicable state board of nursing for advanced practice and a current DEA permit to prescribe controlled substances.
Certified Family Nurse Practitioner (NP‑C) or FNP‑BC.
Obtains and subsequently maintains required department‑specific competencies and certifications.
