American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring an active SD or Compact RN license and L&D experience for 12-hour night shifts.
Details- Hospital-based Labor and Delivery unit with 8 beds
- Patient population includes L&D, postpartum, antepartum, newborns, and infants under 28 days old
- Level 2A Nursery care for sick babies
- Gyn-Surgical/Mastectomy post-op patients preferred but not required
- Patient ratios: 1:2 for laboring patients and 1:3-4 for couplets
- 12-hour night shift schedule with 36 or 48 hours per week
- Every other weekend rotation required
- On-call required per census and rotation schedule
- Floating required to Med/Surg in a helping hands/CNA-level role
- Charts using Epic EMR
- Centralized fetal monitoring used on the unit
- Active RN license (SD or Compact) currently in hand
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NRP
- Completion of an approved nursing education program
- L&D experience required; less than 1 year of experience accepted only if specific to L&D
- Skilled in EFM interpretation and intervention
- Adult and neonatal assessment skills required
- Provide direct patient care across L&D, postpartum, antepartum, and newborn nursery settings
- Support structure includes an in-house charge nurse, hospitalist, and resource nurse (primary nurse, manager, or charge nurse)
- Respiratory therapy and lab/phlebotomy services available 24/7
- No dedicated IV/VAT team on the unit
- Nursery is located behind the nurse's station
- Facility-specific orientation typically lasts 1 week for experienced traveler nurses
- 3 scheduled holidays with 1 on-call holiday on a rotating basis
- Time off requests limited to 2 approved requests per year, submitted before the next schedule is posted
- Hospital-provided scrubs required
- Free parking available
- First-time travelers welcome if they have L&D experience
- Candidates must live more than 100 miles from the facility to qualify
- Former permanent staff must wait a full year before returning as a traveler
