DescriptionAmerican Traveler is hiring a Labor & Delivery RN for a 12-hour night shift assignment requiring dedicated L&D experience and a SD or compact RN license.
Details- 8-bed Labor and Delivery unit
- Cares for L&D, postpartum, antepartum, newborns, and infants under 28 days old
- Gyn-surgical/mastectomy post-op patients preferred experience
- Laboring patient ratio of 1:2 and couplet ratio of 1:3-4
- 12-hour night shift schedule, 36 hours per week
- Charts in Epic
- Centralized fetal monitoring available
- Charge nurse covers all units facility-wide
- 24/7 lab and respiratory therapy support available
- In-house hospitalist (Med/Surg) support
- Floating required to Med/Surg in a helping-hands/CNA-type role, within scope of practice
- Every other weekend rotation required
- On-call requirements based on census with rotating on-call schedule
- Active RN license (SD or Compact) required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications required
- Completion of an approved nursing education program
- EFM interpretation and intervention skills required
- Adult and neonatal assessment skills required
- Prior Labor & Delivery experience required
- Candidates with only 1 year of general RN experience considered only if specific to L&D
- Provide nursing care across L&D, postpartum, antepartum, and newborn/nursery patients
- Primary nurse, manager, or charge nurse serves as resource nurse support
- Nursery located behind the nurses' station
- Orientation typically 1 week, based on traveler experience
- 3 scheduled holidays plus 1 on-call holiday on a rotating basis
- Time off requests limited to 2 gold tickets per year and must be submitted before the next schedule is posted
- Hospital-provided scrubs and free parking offered
- First-time travelers welcome if they have L&D experience
- Candidates must live more than 100 miles from the facility
- Permanent staff must wait one full year before returning as a traveler
