DescriptionAmerican Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for an Emergency Department position requiring float ability across ED, ICU, and Med Surg with at least 1.5 years of acute care experience.
Details- 35-bed acute care facility with ED, ICU, and Med Surg units
- ED has 9 treatment spaces (8 beds plus 1 hallway space), ICU has 4 beds, and Med Surg has 15 beds
- Cares for all ages with conditions including sepsis, DKA, ETOH, ARDS, MI, trauma, and stroke
- Patient ratios are 1:3-4 in ED, 1:1-2 in ICU (acuity/age dependent), and 1:5 in Med Surg
- 12-hour variable shifts totaling 36 hours per week
- Weekend rotation is every other weekend with no on-call requirements
- Holiday coverage required every other holiday
- Must be comfortable floating between ED, ICU, and Med Surg once trained in all areas
- Charge nurse support available along with phlebotomy, respiratory therapy, and hospitalist/APP coverage
- Uses Epic charting system
- Active SD or compact RN license required
- Minimum 1.5 years of acute care experience (ED, ICU, or Med Surg experience accepted)
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, TNCC, and PALS
- NIHSS and CPI certifications preferred
- Completion of an accredited nursing education program
- General ED experience along with critical care skills for ICU holds
- Trauma experience, complex wound care, dressing changes, and nursing assessment skills required
- Must be comfortable working across ED, ICU, and Med Surg care areas
- Provide direct patient care across ED, ICU, and Med Surg based on facility need
- Unit orientation is 2 days for facility and unit training
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Free parking provided on-site
- First-time travelers considered only with 2+ years of experience
- Travelers must live more than 100 miles from the facility, with no local candidates accepted
- Permanent staff must wait one full year before returning as a travel employee, subject to eligibility and reference check
- Up to 7 days of time off can be approved, but the traveler must extend the contract by 1 week for every week missed
- Facility is known for being traveler-friendly and frequently renews travel contracts
