At the present time, (3) three vacancies exist for a full-time Maintenance Mechanic A position within the Administrative Services Division of the Chester County Intermediate Unit.
SUMMARY OF POSITIONPerforms and assists in preventive and corrective maintenance on all HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and other related systems within the Chester County Intermediate Unit.
QUALIFICATIONS- Must have at least a high school diploma or GED and appropriate licensing and certification.
- Trade School graduate and/or apprenticeship preferred.
- Certification in either HVAC, Electrical, or Plumbing.
- Three (3) to Five (5) years working in a commercial setting (HVAC mechanic, electrician, plumber). Experience to include working with/on and maintaining boilers, commercial grade hot water heaters and generators, commercial dish‑washing equipment, welding and brazing experience, troubleshooting/maintaining and repairing plumbing and HVAC systems.
- Candidate must possess digital and pneumatic controls experience including working with single and multi‑phase electrical, working on main electrical distribution and sub panels, changing out light fixtures, repairing and installing electrical infrastructure.
- Ability to understand and comply with written and oral instructions.
- Knowledge and understanding of trade codes and regulations.
- Ability to read, understand, and work from blueprints, schematics and diagrams.
- Assist and perform preventive and corrective maintenance on all HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and other related systems.
- Make repairs and alterations to all facilities.
- Remove or assist in removing snow.
- Receive, store, distribute, and move furniture, materials and supplies.
- Repair, install and maintain any and all other equipment.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the respective supervisor.
- Employee is frequently required to sit, stand, and walk.
- Employee is frequently required to talk and listen.
- Employee frequently uses repetitive motion of hands and feet, and performs regular climbing, bending, crawling, reaching overhead, shoulder reach, twisting, squatting and kneeling.
- Employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 41‑50 pounds, occasionally lift up to 51‑75 pounds and maximum weight of 100 pounds.
- Employee must have close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
This is an essential personnel position which requires meeting deadlines with severe time constraints, interacting with staff and the public, and irregular or extended work hours.
SCHEDULEMonday through Friday, 8 hours per day, 260 days per year.
PAY AND BENEFITSSalary: $35.05 to $36.41 per hour for the year.
