Position Highlights Spencer Hospital is a rural hospital located in northwest Iowa employing over 500+ employees. Positions at Spencer Hospital are not affiliated with Avera; however, we collaborate to provide services to the communities we serve. Employment offers, if accepted, are exclusively with Spencer Hospital.

Responsibilities:

Provides leadership to the Health Information Department of the Spencer Hospital.

Develops and monitors appropriate indicators for staffing, productivity, quality, fiscal accountability, budget, and continuous improvement for the areas of responsibility.

Manages the operations of the department including human resources, budget and finance, short and long range planning, legal and regulatory compliance, and providing professional and/or technical expertise.

Interacts with physicians on documentation and record completion related issues.

Responsible for maintaining unbilled accounts receivable within established standards.

Oversees legal issues involving the medical record including interaction with attorneys and court appearances.

Oversees the medical staff credentialing and privileging as well as the allied health professionals.

Responsible for working with the medical staff on bylaws revisions.

Has good knowledge of all areas within the patient accounting departments and leads to ensure both areas work as a team.

Requirements:

Bachelor of Science degree in related field or equivalent experienceRHIA certification or RHIT from the American Health Information Manager Association required or willing to obtain upon hire Minimum 3-5 years HIM / Coding experience

Supervisory or leadership experience

Schedule:

7:30a-4p;
Mon-Fri; salaried exempt

Schedule may fluctuate based on the needs on the department
