Diesel Shop Service Manager; Spencer, IA

Vander Haag’s is looking for a Diesel Shop Service Manager to lead our 10-bay diesel repair shop at our Spencer, IA location.

Job Summary:

You will lead a strong team of technicians and fabricators, manage workflow in a busy diesel service operation, and work alongside the General Manager to continue growing our service business in the Spencer, IA, area and throughout NW Iowa.

About the Shop:

• Team of 6 – 7 Diesel Technicians, 1 – 2 Fabricators, and 1 Service Assistant
• Established customer base of repair shops, fleets, and owner-operators

What You'll Do:

• Lead and support a team of diesel technicians and fabricators
• Schedule and manage workflow across a 10-bay service shop
• Communicate repair estimates, approvals, and updates with customers
• Monitor shop productivity and maintain high quality standards
• Work with the General Manager to grow service business in the Spencer region
• Prospect potential customers in the Spencer area via phone, email, text, and in person visits
• Maintain a safe, organized, and professional shop environment
• Help recruit, train, and develop service technicians

What We're Looking For:

• Prior experience in heavy duty diesel repair
• Leadership experience as a Shop Foreman, Lead Technician, or Service Manager is preferred
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to lead technicians while keeping the shop productive and efficient
• Someone who takes pride in running a clean, professional shop, and building a strong team culture
• Someone with strong aptitude for sales, customer service, is personable, and able to quickly foster strong relationships with customers.

Schedule & Compensation
:

• This position pays a base salary + bonus potential. Base salary will be dependent upon experience and qualifications
• Total compensation potential (base + bonus) from $90,000 to $105,000/year for applicants with prior experience.
• Monday - Friday schedule, no nights, no weekends, and no on-call hours
