We are currently seeking candidates to fill a Strategic Category Manager role for managing the sourcing of goods and services for the company and the end-to-end process from source to contract for a variety of raw material categories. The role manages the execution of strategic procurement plans by clearly understanding the spend and supplier/stakeholder landscape while leveraging market intelligence, industry knowledge, and cross functional collaboration.

It drives value for Flexcon through assurance of supply, high levels of quality and service, and innovation and costs. The role will build strong internal and external relationships to support business objectives, while driving supply chain optimization, risk mitigation and supplier development. Plan, direct, and coordinate the activities of others involved in the procurement of materials, products, and services as required.

What

will you do in this role?
  • Align with Director of Strategic Sourcing to develop, communicate, and execute strategic sourcing plans for assigned direct or indirect spend categories to achieve strong supplier relationships and enhance profitability, through supplier quality, OTD, lead times, inventory reduction and material and indirect cost reductions.
  • Support the end-to-end sourcing lifecycle for the Strategic Sourcing team, from New Product Development (NPD) to End of Life (EOL), including substitutions/replacements as required.
  • Analyze and understand market conditions to help determine current/future price direction, as well as availability of materials, goods & services. Communicate with key internal stakeholders to better understand sourcing requirements, providing or attaining support for key category or product initiatives to assist in future strategy development.
  • Support Supplier Metrics/KPI’s, including procurement related initiatives, such as cost impact, vendor rebates, and supplier evaluations, as required.
  • Build and maintain supplier relationships based upon needs and alignment to Flexcon goals.
  • Drive optimization for Cost, Capacity and Customer Service.
  • Attain and maintain subject matter expertise in all areas related to sourcing methods and tools.
  • Other duties consistent with the general nature and focus of the position and/or the goals and objectives of the department may be assigned.
What does it take to be successful in this role?
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required, MBA preferred.
  • Purchasing certification through recognized organizations (i.e. CPSM, CIP, CPP, SCMP) preferred.
  • Five years minimum category/commodity ownership, supplier development, strategic sourcing management.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP, supply chain processes (Tier 1 ERP, e.g. Oracle, SAP preferred).
  • Experience with supplier management tools, supplier portals, and automation for procure to pay and spend management processes.
  • Skilled negotiator.
  • Experience conducting supplier assessments, preferred.
  • Great interpersonal skills, ability to communicate with all levels of the organization and external parties.
  • Experience analyzing and interpreting data, as well as preparing and presenting reports.
  • Strong project leadership skills driving procurement strategies.
  • Prior industry experience is an asset.
  • Experience interpreting, negotiating, and drafting/modifying documents such as contracts, quotations & agreements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; organized, analytical and detail oriented.
  • Excellent computer skills; intermediate to advanced levels in MS Office (Excel required).
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in a challenging/dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
