Job Description
  • Assesses children throughout the school and identifies children at-risk.
  • Designs and implements academic interventions using research-based methodology in reading and/or math.
  • Communicates with school personnel and parents of children regarding reading and/or math level and rate of progress.
  • Differentiates instruction based on assessment data.
  • Documents interventions and progress on each child with whom you support.
  • Assists teachers by providing professional development in the area of early literacy as needed.
  • Works with the school leadership team to guide and monitor the progress of each child.
  • Participates in team reviews concerning academic progress for students who are struggling or are in need of services.
  • Shares student data with applicable teachers and administration.
  • Provides pre and post-assessment data to teachers and administrators.
  • Provides small group instruction.
  • Provides an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social and emotional development of each student to ensure success. Supervises students in a variety of school related settings.
  • Communicates and interacts with students, parents, staff and community.
  • Develops, selects and modifies instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students.
  • Maintains appropriate records and follows required procedures and practices.
  • Administers informal and formal assessments.
  • Knowledge of educational research, trends, and best practices.
  • Assists in designing, upholding and enforcing school rules and building positive school culture (PBIS etc)
  • Actively participates in faculty and/or department meetings.
  • Assists in the preparation of data for local, state and federal reports
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements
  • 1. Licensed, or eligible for licensure in Moderate/Severe Special Needs, at the Elementary level, by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary & Secondary Education.
    2. Meets all Massachusetts Department of Elementary & Secondary Education. and has experience with sub separate programming.
    3. Experienced with K-4 curriculum modifications.
    4. Experienced in providing instructional strategies for students with social/emotional and trauma needs.
    5. Preferred experience with meeting behavioral needs of students. ion standards for Highly Qualified Teacher.
    6. Previous experience teaching children with moderate special needs. Reading License Preferred from an accredited college or university, in a related field.
    7 Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, to children and adults.
    8. Commitment to remain current in content knowledge and teaching strategies.
    9. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and in conformity with state certification requirements.

    Job Requirements
    -Successful candidates will have:
    -Certification or Licensure:
    Valid Massachusetts Certificate.
    -Experience desired:
    Teaching experience preferred.
    Satisfactory CORi, SORi, and Fingerprinting are required.
