Starting Date: Immediately

The Spencer-East Brookfield Regional School District is seeking School Nurse Substitutes to support student service delivery needs district-wide.

• Health assessment, medical treatment, and health counseling of students
• Medication administration and oversight
• Development, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of Individualized Health Care Plans (IHCPs) and medication administration plans
• Collaboration with healthcare providers, families, and school staff regarding student health
• Providing emergency care for injury or sudden illness
• Performing or supervising Massachusetts Department of Public Health mandated health screenings or activities
• Maintaining accurate and comprehensive health records, including electronic documentation
• Prevention and control of communicable diseases within the schools
• Staffing immunization clinics and other public health-related duties
• Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or designee

Position Type: Full-time

Salary: $125 to $200 Per Day

School Nurse

• Registered Nurse (RN) license in Massachusetts is required
  
  Education:
  
  Master’s degree preferred;
  Bachelor’s or Associate degree accepted
  Knowledge of community agencies to support students and families
  Familiarity with district policies and procedures
  CPR certification
  At least 2 years of relevant work experience preferred
  Critical thinking and ability to work independently
  Strong communication skills for collaboration with staff regarding student needs
  Knowledge of medications commonly used in schools (e.g., Epinephrine, Albuterol, Diazepam)
  Familiarity with common pediatric and chronic conditions (e.g., asthma, seizures, allergies, diabetes)
  Ability to recognize and refer students with mental health concerns
  
  Physical Requirements:
  
  Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer Prolonged periods of standing, reaching, and bending Ability to respond quickly to emergencies Other Requirements:
  Attendance and punctuality are essential, as they directly impact student safety and learning U.S. citizenship, residency, or valid work visa required
