Position:Senior Corporate Accountant
Status:Full-time, Exempt
Hours:Monday - Friday, 8am-5pm
Location:On Site - Remote flexibility after training
About this role: The Senior Corporate Accountant supports the Cowles parent company’s close, reporting, audit, and tax processes. This role owns key month‑end responsibilities, prepares and reconciles accounts, supports consolidated audit and tax work papers, and assists with corporate plans, and special projects.
What you'll do:
- Lead assigned portions of the month‑end close, including preparing journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Prepare financial statements, audit‑ready work papers, and account analyses; coordinate timely responses to internal and external audit requests.
- Prepare and review supporting schedules for federal and state tax filings, and maintain documentation for assigned processes
- Support the accounting and administration of corporate plans, including medical, dental, retirement, and private foundations.
- Partner with the Assistant Corporate Controller on ad hoc reporting, process improvement, and cross‑functional accounting projects.
- Required:
- 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, including public accounting (audit or tax) and/or corporate accounting with month‑end close responsibilities
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting; strong working knowledge of GAAP, account reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Advanced Excel skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities with accuracy, sound judgment, and attention to detail
- Preferred:
- CPA license or active progress toward CPA certification
- Experience with ERP systems;
Acumatica or similar mid‑market platforms a plus - Experience performing/supporting external audits, and tax compliance processes
