Accounting Assistant

Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounting Assistant to support day-to-day financial operations for a Contract position based in Spokane, Washington. This role is well suited for someone who enjoys keeping records accurate, processing transactions efficiently, and helping maintain a smooth accounting workflow. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience in payables, receivables, and reconciliations while working confidently with ERP systems in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities:

- Process vendor invoices accurately, assign the appropriate coding, and prepare payments in accordance with company procedures.

- Manage incoming customer payments, post receipts, and follow up on outstanding balances to keep accounts current.

- Reconcile bank activity and investigate discrepancies to ensure financial records remain complete and accurate.

- Review financial entries for accuracy and resolve routine issues related to billing, payments, and account balances.

- Assist with regular reporting by compiling accounting data and supporting month-end close activities.

- Communicate with internal team members and external contacts to clarify invoice details, payment status, and account questions.

Requirements

- 2-5 years experience supporting accounting operations with a focus on accounts payable and accounts receivable or nonprofit industry.

- Practical knowledge of bank reconciliations and the ability to identify and resolve variances.

- Ability to code invoices accurately and maintain consistent financial records.

- Strong attention to detail with effective organizational and time-management skills.
