Title and Levels

Events Coordinator – Available levels: 111B-_NPS (Events Coordinator
2) and 111C-_NPS (Events Coordinator
3). The position may be filled at either level depending on the finalist’s qualifications and experience.

Position Overview

As the Events Coordinator, you are responsible for planning, arranging, and coordinating facility and logistical support for all on‑ and off‑site events sponsored by and in collaboration with offices within the Elson S.Floyd College of Medicine in Spokane, WA. Under the direction of the Conference Manager, you provide logistical support to the supervisor and department leads. Duties include establishing event plans and themes, supporting event logistics, reporting budgets, contacting speakers, arranging lodging, catering, security, publicity, materials, equipment, and processing billing.

The role also involves coordinating repeat programs/events and developing new programs/events for the college, such as student‑related events, community events, faculty and staff events, and philanthropic events.

Required Qualifications

Events Coordinator2

  • High school graduation or equivalent and three (3) years of work experience involving public contact such as secretarial, sales promotion, setting up conferences, public information, or in the hospitality industry; OR equivalent education/experience.
  • Three (3) years of event management or coordination experience including logistics planning, budget development, or working with clients and the public.
  • Demonstrated experience successfully completing multiple team and independent projects on short timelines in a fast‑paced environment with utmost professionalism.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite programs:
    Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
  • Position requires occasional evening and/or weekend work to support event needs.
  • Must have, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver’s license and meet requirements in accordance with SPPM
    7.10 and departmental driving standards.

Events Coordinator3

  • High school graduation or equivalent and four years of progressively responsible work experience involving public contact such as secretarial, sales promotion, setting up conferences, public information, or in the hospitality industry; OR equivalent education/experience.
  • Four (4) years of event management or coordination experience including logistics planning, budget development, or working with clients and the public.
  • Demonstrated experience successfully completing multiple team and independent projects on short timelines in a fast‑paced environment with utmost professionalism.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite programs:
    Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
  • Position requires occasional evening and/or weekend work to support event needs.
  • Must have, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver’s license and meet requirements in accordance with SPPM
    7.10 and departmental driving standards.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Membership in a meeting planner association.
  • Experience composing publicity copy, such as newsletters, eblasts, announcements, website copy or social media copy.
Salary

Events Coordinator2: $3,485 – $4,633 per month (Range
38)

Events Coordinator3: $3,738 – $4,980 per month (Range
41)

Successful candidates are typically hired at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC
357‑28. In accordance with RCW
49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position.
