The State Government Relations Coordinator provides analytical, research, drafting and administrative support to RAA’s State Relations Team (SRT). The SRT interacts with all state insurance departments, state legislatures, National Association of Insurance Commissioners, National Council of Insurance Legislators, insurance trade associations, NGOs and other entities. This position will provide critical support to the team in identifying and analyzing relevant legislative and regulatory developments, assisting in preparation of materials to educate and advocate on behalf of our members and to keep members apprised of developments.

You will:

  • Identify, analyze and track bills, regulations and other state developments that could impact our industry.
  • Assist in preparing for hearings, legislative and regulatory meetings, including background memos and support materials.
  • Assist with state insurance department education sessions.
  • Support the team’s participation at meetings and industry events, including coordinating meetings and reports for the National Association of Insurance Commissioner meetings.
  • Assist in preparing the state legislative report, committee agendas, bulletins and other member communications.
  • Perform administrative tasks, including processing invoices and expenses, sending bulletins and newsletters, assisting with budgeting and filing lobbying reports.
  • Provide limited support to the federal affairs team in sending out bulletins to members and logistics for in-office meetings.

  • Proficient with technology including web-based research, AI and third-party legislative and regulatory tracking applications.
  • Strong time management and organization skills.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Required

Education and Experience
  • 2 or more years of relevant experience
  • Knowledge of the legislative and regulatory process is highly desired.
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office including Word, PowerPoint, & Excel.
Travel

Up to 10% travel is possible.

Compensation

Salary range is $70,, depending upon qualifications. The RAA offers an exceptional benefits package that includes platinum level medical insurance, dental, vision, and life and disability insurance. Generous paid time off including all federal holidays.

Hybrid position (in office 3 days a week)

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.
